Converting RaQ3/4 or Qube3 to raq550 OS

  • First make sure the RaQ3/4 Qube3 has an AMD ROM (Flash EEPROM)
        Use null-modem-cable and minicom/hyperterminal, boot up, the sign-on msg will give the ROM type;
        OR
You may physically look at the ROM (you may have to remove label)
    Picture of ROM Location
If the ROM is not AMD AM29F080B this procedure may not work
as the reflash process may fail, resulting in you replacing the ROM

  • Get the RaQ550-ROM ISO with ROM utilities Here
        Create a CD
Do a normal restore process using this CD
When prompted for "Hardware" Select actual hardware (i.e. RaQ3 or RaQ4)
When prompted for "ROM Version" Select 2.10.1
When reflash is complete wait a few seconds and Power down.

  • Get the RaQ34 to RaQ550 ISO with patches Here
    Create a CD
Do a normal restore process using this CD

It is possible that this process may fail loading all the patches
In which case do a normal restore using the RaQ550-ROM CD
Initialize the server through the GUI
login to a ssh session and 'su -' to root
        execute: wget http://fsn.raqware.com/RaQ550/RaQ550_III_041230.tar
        execute: tar -xpsf RaQ550_III_041230.tar
        execute: ./update-550.csh

  • Your RaQ3/4 should be running the RaQ550 OS.
  • Of course we recommend one of our Tyan GS10/12 or MSI P1-103A2M CBQ (CentOS+BQ) Servers. CBQ (CentOS + BlueQuartz) Servers
